Melomakarona – Greek Honey Spiced Biscuit


Biscuit dough

300 g unsalted butter, melted or 300mL extra virgin olive oil

500 mL vegetable oil, or any other neutral oil

375 mL fresh orange juice

270 g caster sugar

2 tsp ground clove

2 tsp ground cinnamon

1 kg 00 flour

450 g semolina

½ tsp baking soda

½ tsp baking powder


Syrup

3 cups caster sugar

3 cups water

6 whole cloves

2 cinnamon sticks

2 thick fresh orange slices

1 ½ cups honey


Decoration 110 g walnuts crushed
